Judo Camp Serbia 2024
The Mellieha Judo Club recently completed a 5-days judo camp in Sokobanja, Serbia, held during the first week of April 2024. The camp focused on providing judokas with experience including technical development, cultural immersion, and physical activity and mental development.
Judo training sessions took place at the Royal Judo Club Karađorđević dojo in Sokobanja with Sensei Slaviša Milijić. These sessions offered participants the opportunity to train alongside Serbian judokas, sharing knowledge, techniques and culture. Parents had the opportunity to try judo while being coached by young ones.
Judokas and parents went to relax at the Soko-thermes. The natural thermal waters provided a well deserved muscle reflief.
Beyond the dojo, the Sokobanja Ecological Society guided us in a scenic trek through the Sokobanja mountains. Everyone could enjoy the natural gift of the region. A good occasion to learn more about plants, trees, wildlife and history. Special thanks and Gold Medal for the sandwiches and desserts.
Physical activity sessions outside of the dojo took place in a park setting. These sessions focused on kumikata and techniques with no judogi. This approach aimed to reinforce skills learned in the dojo while fostering a sense of camaraderie among participants.
Another element of the camp was the "mondo" session. During this session, young judokas had the opportunity to share their experiences, learnings, and reflections from the entire trip. This provided valuable insights into the impact of the camp on their personal growth and judo development.
The club extends its gratitude to all participants from Malta and from Serbia.
